Advice for High School.

I recently asked my parents for advice about high school.
I got some pretty strange and sensible things, my mom told me, "You're a smart kid, you'll be fine."
whereas my step-dad told me, "If all else fails, throw potatoes at everything." to that I replied, "Uhh...ok?"
After asking for advice from my parents, I learned something: I should listen to my mom's advice, but not my step-dad's.
